ASL Health Science Weekend: An Immersive Signing Experience at Pine Tree Camp — October 16–18

What if you could spend a weekend learning about the human body — its systems, its science, its language — entirely in ASL?

That is exactly what the ASL Health Science Weekend offers. Hosted by Atomic Hands and presented by MeAD:MeSLIC, this three-day overnight immersion event takes place October 16–18, 2026 at Pine Tree Camp, Rome, Maine — where participants stay in the cabins and spend the weekend exploring health sciences through an Anatomy, Science, and Language lens.

What Is ASL Health Science Weekend?

Think of it as an ASL immersion experience built around a specific and important subject: health science. Participants join hands-on workshops, group discussions, and collaborative learning experiences — all in ASL — covering the human body, its systems, and the importance of health education in our language.

This is not a lecture weekend. It is an immersive, community-driven learning experience designed to build vocabulary, deepen understanding, and connect people who share a passion for science and signing.

  • Teachers of the Deaf
  • Deaf community members
  • Students

Whether you are a working interpreter who needs stronger health science vocabulary, a teacher looking for new ways to engage students around science, or a community member who just wants to learn, this weekend is for you.

Where Will I Stay?

In the cabins at Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Maine. This is a full overnight immersion experience — you arrive Friday, stay through Sunday, and spend the weekend surrounded by the language and the learning.
